A great-grandmother in Texas hit an alligator in the bubble earlier this week, killing the huge reptile with a blow to the head, she told a local news station.
Livingston mayor, Judy Cochran, believes that the parent found on his family ranch along the Trinity River in Goodrich, Texas, is responsible for his miniature horse, which was lost three years ago, she said. ABC station of KTRK.
The gator probably ate the horse, which was about the size of a Labrador Retriever, she said.
On Monday, Cochran fired on the gator in the same basin as his grandson killed one in 2009, the Houston Chronicle reported. He was only five years old at the time, reports the Chronicle.
"A shot in the head and he fell under," Cochran said of his death. "Typically, they will roll a death roll and roll over and over again, but this one did not do it."
The alligator, which measured 12 feet and 580 pounds, was transported to a local taxidermist. Cochran plans to get her head and tail in her office, make boots from her skin and eat the meat, she said.

Residents of Polk County are only allowed to kill alligators 20 days a year, according to KTRK. The station must be primed and caught before being killed, reported the station.
This year was full of firsts for Cochran, according to KTRK. She was elected mayor in May, she became a great-grandmother for the first time earlier this month and can now consider herself a killer of predators.
"Do not mess with Nana," she said.
