With the mid-term elections of 2018 taking place on November 6th, the vote registrations are fully effective and, in order to register Generation Y and young people, Snapchat offers a simple way to do so. Susana Victoria Perez has more.

If you are at least 18 years old and plan to vote on November 6th, listen carefully: the deadline for voter registration is approaching.
Forty-nine states and the Federal District of Columbia require electors that they register before voting in local, regional, or federal elections. The registration deadlines vary, but the majority of them are in October – and 19 of these deadlines are on Tuesdays. In many states, residents can register in person, by mail or online.
Here's what you need to know.

The basics
US citizens aged 18 and over who meet their state's residency criteria can register to vote by completing a form. (Find the requirements of your state here.) Most states allow online registration, but you can also register with your local or regional election office.
North Dakota is the only state that does not require registration before voting.
Most states also allow voters to vote before polling day. Find out if your state is voting early here.
The big deadlines
- If you live in Alaska and Rhode Island, you missed your chance: both states have the oldest registration dates in the country, and the deadline was Sunday October 7th. The deadline for in-person registration of Montana was also Sunday, but residents can register late until election day.
- Tuesday October 9th marks the deadline for voter registration for 19 states. These include Ohio, Florida, Kentucky and Indiana. For some states, like Louisiana and Utah, Oct. 9 is the deadline to register in person; electors can continue to register by mail or online.
- Four other states also have deadlines this week. The Missouri deadline is Wednesday, October 10, Oklahoma and North Carolina are on Friday, October 12 and Delaware is Saturday, October 13. All three allow registration in person, by mail or online.
- Tuesday October 16th is another popular deadline for states. This is the registration deadline for Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon and West Virginia. South Carolina follows closely with a Wednesday, October 17th deadline.
- Residents of Alabama, California and South Dakota must be registered with Monday, October 22.
- Closing October, the Colorado deadline for registration is Monday, October 29. This is followed by Connecticut on Tuesday, October 30.

States without online registration
Twelve states do not have online registration available for residents:
- Arkansas
- Maine
- Michigan
- Mississippi
- Montana
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
- Oklahoma
- South Dakota
- Texas
- Wyoming
Different deadlines for different methods
Some states have different deadlines depending on how voters choose to register.
- Louisiana: In-person registration ends Tuesday, but voters can register online via Tuesday October 16th.
- Massachusetts: The deadline to register by mail is Tuesday October 16thbut the registration in person and online goes to Wednesday, October 17th.
- Nebraska: Nebraskans can register by mail or online via Friday, October 19thbut have up to Friday, October 26 register in person.
- Nevada: Three different dates for three different methods. The Nevada postal registration closes Tuesday and the in-person registration ends Tuesday October 16th. Voters wishing to register online have up to Thursday 18th October.
- New York: Friday, October 12 is the deadline for registration in person and online. For mailings, registration forms must be received by October 12th.
- Utah: Although Utah's mail registration ends Tuesday, voters have up to Tuesday, October 30 to register either in person or online.
- Washington: The deadline for registration by mail and online is Monday. The in-person registration goes up to the Monday, October 29.
Registration on polling day
These states allow registration in person until polling day, but check their individual deadlines for registration by mail or online:
- District of Colombia
- Hawaii
- Idaho
- Maine
- Minnesota
- New Hampshire
- Vermont, which also allows online registration until November 6
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming
