Cleaning garbage is not a glamorous job and you have to imagine that garbage cleaning at sea is no different. This is what scientists who work in the field tend to do, slowly pick up someone else's garbage and put them in a bag where they should have been because they feel the lure moral to preserve the nature of human waste, but when It took some time to clean the garbage while monitoring the progress of coral reefs in the region. They were surprised.
Sallie Beavers, a marine ecologist from Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, was part of a team of scientists who discovered two tiny octopus hanging in a floating plastic basket. They are cute.
Tiny creatures were discovered earlier this year, but have recently been posted on Instagram by the US Department of the Interior.
"During the superficial monitoring of coral reefs, marine biologists at # Hawaii's Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park have collected several floating plastic marine debris," says the description accompanying the photo. "This beautiful little octopus was found among the debris."
The researchers believe that the two marine animals belong to a species that will extend about three feet long and weigh about 12 pounds. These little guys still had a long way to go before they reached adulthood, but at least they can now find something more hidden in which a lazy human has not gotten rid of.
