For those of us who are wondering how much time we can afford to recover from our Thanksgiving remnants, the US government is here to help.

In this Thanksgiving period, the government is making recommendations on how to safely store and consume your vacation remnants. FoodSafety.gov, an online food safety information portal collected by federal agencies such as the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the US Department of Agriculture. United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The information also includes a directive not to store the stuffing in a turkey, avoid eating leftovers older than three or four days and keep the remains in a cooler with ice or gelatin sachets frozen lives more than two hours. "

The site also recommends storing foods only in shallow containers to reduce the cooling time in the refrigerator and to limit the shelf life of foods at dangerous temperatures.

The guidelines, which accompany the instructions to prepare a turkey safely, may be particularly useful as a result of a series of food safety issues during the holiday season. Earlier this week, the CDC warned US consumers not to eat romaine lettuce, which could be contaminated with E. coli. According to the CDC, 32 people in 11 states were infected, 13 of whom were hospitalized.

FSIS also recalled turkey products linked to a salmonella outbreak, as well as certain mixtures of raw beef and Duncan Hines that may be contaminated with the bacteria.
