It's a tough season for overshadowed, especially DLC releases, but with the massive success of Insomniac's Spiderman on PS4, it seems likely to be a part of the world.
The Heist is one of three DLCs in the "City that Never Sleeps" pack for $ 25, though you can buy it on its own for $ 10.
I was actually unclear about what the DLC contained, and I kind of assumed it would be like ArkhamCatwoman DLC, a standalone tale, but that is not the case. One, you do not play as Black Cat, two, this is not the end of the story, all three DLCs feed into this one narrative, so let's one ends on a huge cliffhanger.
I probably got it, 2.5-3 hours out of this DLC, and that's all about the new things like tracking down stolen paintings, stopping most of the new mafia crimes and a few new screwball challenges. The "main" story is a handful of missions and … I mean, it's more Spiderman. That's a good thing on its own.
The story is going to be a little bit of a bunch of flash drives while seemingly working for a crime family. The "new faction" here are mafia thugs, but they're just … normal thugs with the same weapons we've seen, with the exception of a new heavy minigun that makes a few of the combat encounters challenging.
There are a couple of new mechanics, including the intro mission that has you stopping criminals trying to flee an art museum with stolen coins, having to nab them before they hit the door. There's a sequence where you can assign Black Cat to stealthily take down enemies as you do the same. I really liked one Screwball challenge that had you take down two locked gadgets, but there was only one of those, weirdly. But overall, it's pretty damn similar to what you've been playing already, and if you're already there, there's nothing new to unlock, no gadgets, no skills, and even the new suits in the DLC are just cosmetic and do not come with new suit powers. That's … mildly disappointing.
MJ and Miles moments, MJ and Miles moments, but it does not matter how much MJ and Miles moments which we all know and love. Felicia's Black Cat is hilariously, over-the-top flirtatious with Peter as you might expect, and surprise, I do not think it's ruining anything to warn that you can not always trust her. She's like Catwoman in more than just name and profession in that way.
Would I recommend this for $ 8-10? Safe. I mean, I love almost every second of Spiderman so any excuse to jump back into it is a good one, even in a busy release season. And yet there is not a your of substance to this DLC, and it does not matter which way of doing it. And I'm sad I did not want to play Black Cat.
I do not regret the purchase, but just know what you are paying for.
