According to the National Weather Service, destructive winds, hail, floods and isolated tornadoes are possible in the Lansing and Grand Rapids area on Thursday.

Meteorologists say some of the storms in the area may become strong on Thursday afternoon, with the worst occurring between 3 pm. and at 9 pm The main threats are gusts of wind, hail and heavy rains.

Twenty-three counties in southwestern Michigan, including Ingham, Clinton and Eaton, are in the area for hazardous weather conditions.

According to the NWS, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11am Thursday. Later on Thursday night, storms before midnight and after 3am could produce heavy rain.

The Wednesday night storms brought up to an inch of rain in the Lansing area, according to the Ingham County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
