(Reuters) – Hope Hicks, former director of communications for President Donald Trump, has been named chief of communications for Fox, the company being split from Twenty-First Century Fox (FOXA.O) merger with Walt Disney Co (DIS.N).

Hicks, one of Trump's oldest and most trusted advisers, stepped down from his White House job earlier this year.

Hicks was involved in a controversy around former White House staff secretary Rob Porter, another close associate of Trump, with whom Hicks was in a relationship. She worked to defend him when accusations of domestic violence against his two ex-women emerged. Porter was eventually forced to resign.

In July, Disney outbid Comcast Corp. (CMCSA.O) with a $ 71.3 billion purchase of some of Fox's assets.

Prior to the agreement, scheduled for next year, Fox will split the Fox Broadcasting network and stations, including Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, into a newly listed company.

The company has also appointed Danny O'Brien as Government Relations Officer. O'Brien joins Fox from General Electric (GE.N), where he is a senior official in government affairs and policy.
