Hillsboro Storm Damage

Storms that caused the National Weather Service to trigger tornado warnings caused considerable damage in the Hillsboro town of Hill County on Saturday.

Texas Sky Ranger did an aerial tour of Ellis and Hill counties after the storms dissipated and at least two houses were destroyed.

One of the houses seemed to have the greatest damage, with windows, walls and a torn roof.

This house belonged to Kateri Martin and his family.

"You could hear it as a passing choo choo train," said Martin. "It was noisy and so scary.Our dogs were shaking."

Martin says she and her family crammed into the bathroom at home while the storm raged.

Martin's daughter says that her brother has almost failed to get home on time.

"He was in the carport and he was almost trapped by the tornado, but he managed to keep my father's tricycle and go back inside," said Kristin Cunningham. "I do not know … by the grace of God."

A small neighboring building was razed, a pontoon boat was knocked down and a recreational vehicle was launched.

Martin says that she is so grateful that she and her family have managed to survive.

"And then? Pick up the pieces and go away." What else can you do? Like, it could have been a lot worse. "

Another neighboring house has suffered significant damage on the roof and outdoor furniture has been launched. No injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning on Saturday afternoon for Hill County, but storm crews will have to assess the area and determine if the damage was caused by a tornado or straight winds.
