House of Cards Trailer: "The reign of the white man of middle age is over"

Frank Underwood is dead and Claire Underwood is ready to bury his reputation with his body. In the new trailer of the next season of House of Cards, Claire takes her new position as President of the United States and delivers a moving introductory speech to the US Armed Forces and the American people.

"My first 100 days as president have been difficult," she begins. "I lost my husband. We were about to celebrate together 30 years. Then our modern Lady Macbeth pauses, ready to give her first blow: "Here's the thing: what did Francis tell you in the past five years? Do not believe a word of it. "

As with all things House of Cards, Of course, Frank's death has a conspiratorial advantage. The trailer does not specify how he died, but we know that the mystery swirls around the circumstances. It does not help to feed siblings, Annette and Bill Shepherd (played by Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear), come to burst to collect all the promises that Frank made with them before his death. Claire, a woman who loves nothing more than making new enemies, lets them know that she will not be attached to any of her husband's dubious agreements. She prefers to do her own shady business, thank you very much.

"The reign of the middle-aged white man is over," she says at one point, before leading a women-only meeting in the White House law closet (a show that we 'll probably not have it in real life).

the House of cards The team has clearly adopted an unqualified approach for this past season, responding to both the political climate and the backstage scandal provoked by its own former star. Kevin Spacey, who was fired after being charged with sexual misconduct. Spacey apologized to the actor Anthony Rapp, who made the first accusation against him, but remained silent on subsequent claims; since his departure Cards, he has essentially become an industry mogul.

The trailer for the show's final season also reintroduces a familiar face of former White House chief of staff Linda Vasquez (Sakina Jaffrey) to Russian President Viktor Petrov (Lars Mikkelsen). The vicious Lapdog Doug Stamper also gets a moment of glory by asking F.B.I. Agent Nathan Green, "Did you think you had seen the last of me?" He'll need a little more weight if he wants Emma Roberts level, but it's not bad. House of cards launches on Netflix on November 2nd.
