The reigning world champion, the Houston Astros, is again champion of AL West.

On Tuesday night, the Astros earned their second consecutive AL West title with their victory over the Blue Jays (HOU 4, TOR 1) and the Mariners' victory over athletics (SEA 10, OAK 8). The As were the hottest baseball team for three good months and at one point, even with the "Stros" in the West, they unfortunately could not win the crown.

Chris Herrmann, a man of utility for the Mariners, beat the A to win the AL West title for the Astros on Tuesday.

The Astros have won consecutive division titles for the first time since they won three division titles from 1997 to 1999. It was the comeback when they played in NL Central. In addition, on Tuesday night, the Astros became the first team to win more than 100 consecutive games since the 2004/05 Cardinals.

While the Red Sox have the best record of wins and losses, the case can be made, the Astros have been the best baseball team this season. They have the best baseball running differential (plus-264), and their ratio of points scored to authorized races is among the best since World War II:

  1. 1969 Orioles: 1.5068
  2. 2018 Astros: 1.5067
  3. 1948 Indians: 1.48
  4. 1954 Indians: 1.48
  5. 2001 Mariners: 1.48

Thanks to their rotational power and excellent base, the Astros are the most effective baseball prevention team, averaging 3.33 points per game. They did that same with Lance McCullers Jr. missing much of the second half. Houston is also one of the best offensive teams in the game. They make an average of 5.01 points scored per game.

The Astros winning the AL West title, the US playoff championship is established. Here is the post-season photo:

  • Wild Card Game: Athletics vs Yankees
  • ALDS: Winner of the game Wild Card at Red Sox
  • ALDS: Indians at Astros

The Red Sox have already won the best baseball record and the Astros have a better record than the Indians. Boston and Houston will be the home teams of ALDS. The only thing left to win in the AL is the advantage of the field in the game Wild Card. The Yankees have a magic number of two to get that.
