Houston company recalls packaged chicken salads shipped to Colorado

HOUSTON (AP) – A Houston-based company has recalled nearly 1,800 pounds (816.47 kilograms) of ready-to-eat salad with chicken-based products, as one corn ingredient could be contaminated with salmonella and listeria.

The United States Department of Agriculture said that GHSW had recalled salads prepared from October 1 to last Thursday, with "best by" or "best sell" sales dates on Sunday or Monday.

No cases of illness have been reported.

Salads marked "P-44056" by the USDA have been shipped to Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. Articles include:

– 10 ounce (283.49 grams) packets of "Chicken and Chicken Chopped Chopped Salad"

– 8 ounce (226.79 grams) packets of "FAJITA CHICKEN CHICKEN SALAD WITH POWDER OF GOODS ALL OF THE MARKET"

– 13 ounce (368.54 grams) package of Trader Joe's BBQ Chicken Breast Salad

– 10.7-ounce (303.33-gram) packets of "Grilled White Chicken Joe's Broiler's Fresh Chopped Salad"

– 10.7-ounce (303.33-gram) packs of "Mexican Merchant-inspired Salad with Seasoned Chilli Chicken"

Salmonellosis can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. Listeriosis can cause diarrhea, fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.
