Here is the summary of the APs:

FOXBOROUGH (AP) – Tom Brady racked up 277 yards and three touchdowns, hitting Rob Gronkowski for 123 yards and scoring Sunday to lead reigning AFC champion New England Patriots to a 27-20 victory over the Houston Texans .

Brady and Gronkowski, who both considered retiring in the offseason, have connected seven times, including a 21-yard touchdown after Deshaun Watson escaped the Texans 19 in Houston's first offensive game.

"Anything about this stuff, I'd like to put it in the past," said Gronkowski, who was swayed as a commercial bait before the team added $ 4.3 million worth of incentives to his contract. "I'm here, I'm here to stay, I'm enjoying my time."

Brady, 41, also hinted that he did not intend to play this season after a year in which Jimmy Garoppolo threatened to fire him. Garoppolo was traded mid-season in San Francisco and Brady later repeated his hope of playing in the mid-forties.

The reigning MVP of the NFL also found Phillip Dorsett and James White for TD's passes, but said he was not happy with his performance. In all, he completed 26 of 39 passes; he also had an interception on a pass that was tilted on the line of scrimmage.

"I do not think we played near our abilities," he said. "We are all probably watching the game and realize we could have done better."

Watson, who missed the last nine games last season with a ripped right LCA, completed 17 of 35 passes for 176 yards, a score and an interception. He struggled to move the team in the first 40 minutes, managing only a pair of shots in the field before Alfred Blue did it from 1 yard to 24-13 in the last two minutes. the third period.

Riley McCarron of New England scored 5 minutes against Bruce Ellington and reduced the deficit to 27-20. But after recovering the ball 43 seconds from the end, the Texans failed to reach the midfield.

With Julian Edelman suspended for four games for breaking the league's policy against better players, Dorsett caught seven passes for 66 yards, including a 4-yard pass in the final seconds of the first half. The Whites had four receptions for 38 yards, including one of 12 yards.

Lamar Miller ran 20 times for 98 yards for Houston, which hosted Watson, defensive lineman J.J. Watt and linebacker Whitney Mercilus came back from injury. Watt had two quarters of a quarter in a hurry, but D.J. Reader had Brady's only two bags, both late.

"It's good to play a full match to know it lasts, to know it lasts," said Watt, three-time defenseman of the year. "I did not think about it once, so it's all you can ask for."

That's Watson who felt the pressure during the rest of the game.

The sophomore quarter, who racked up 301 yards in a 36-33 loss to New England last year in his second NFL start, missed a transfer with Miller in the first quarter, allowing to the Patriots to reach their first touchdown. In the second quarter, Watson inexplicably exploded the ball in the end zone for a double-covered Vyncint Smith on a second and third in New England.

Stephon Gilmore brought him back for interception.

BALL CONTROL

The Patriots also had problems with turnovers.

Brady had an interception in the first quarter on a pitch thrown by defensive lineman Angelo Blackson and introduced by Tyrann Mathieu to the Patriots 17. The Texans fell 7 yards before the Ka 42-yard Fairbairn placement do it.

Gronkowski also escaped the third quarter after a 25-yard reception at the center. Mathieu recovered, but after advancing to New England 17, the Texans handed the ball. McCarron gave the Texans a last chance.

INJURY

Texans: DE Christian Covington is injured in the first quarter thigh. T Seantrel Henderson left after having his left ankle a few times later. Kevin Johnson left with what the team said was a concussion and did not return.

Patriots: Running back Jeremy Hill left with a right knee injury in the third round.

After the Texans forced New England to come back in the last minute, Ryan Allen put the ball inside the 5-yard line and Jonathan Jones shot him down first. Hopkins for 14 yards before fighting for 13 more.

From his 43 minutes to 5 seconds from the end, Watson threw the ball until 10 but was knocked down.
