DETROIT – Aurora Borealis could dance in the Michigan skies this week!
The Spatial Weather Prediction Center predicts that a G1 geomagnetic storm will arrive from June 26 to June 27, which means that aurora borealis could be visible at high altitude in the United States, including Michigan.
The best chance to see them is the night of June 26 to the morning of June 27 from 11 pm to 5 pm EST.
They could also be visible on the night of June 27, but may not be as strong.
Aurora borealis are observed much more often in northern Michigan than in lower Michigan, although they are not unknown.
The SWPC projection below shows the Northern Lights predictions for June 27 from 2 am to 5 pm.
