Spoil alert! The following contains spoilers from the first season of "Lethal Weapon".

This was not exactly as usual in the first season of "Lethal Weapon".

In May, the series made the headlines, not for its critics or rave reviews, but for its alleged abusive and hostile behavior towards star Clayne Crawford, who embodied the torch Martin Riggs, based on the character of Mel Gibson. Crawford was fired from the television series, in which he co-starred with Damon Wayans, who plays Roger Murtaugh (based on the role of Danny Glover), and Fox scrambled to recast it. The network chose "American Pie" alum Seann William Scott to replace Crawford, and he made his debut in the first season of season 3 on Tuesday night.

Fans have entered the episode with two major questions: What happened to Riggs, and the new guy is he good at?

The episode quickly responded at once by not launching with Riggs, who was killed in the season 2 finale, but with Wesley Cole (Scott), a CIA agent in Syria who is attempting a covert operation with the 9-year-old informant help. Cole tries to protect his young companion, but the boy is killed in crossfire, pushing Cole out of his life as a trotter and settling in as a LAPD rookie.

The same evening, Cole's informant is killed, we see Murtaugh take Riggs to the hospital, but it's too late. Riggs died and Murtaugh had six months of depression and sorrow as he cried for his partner, desperately trying to crack the murder record. Although the LAPD is convinced that Riggs' brother, Garrett, killed Riggs and himself, Murtaugh is convinced that there is a deeper plot.

While checking a track in his investigation, Murtaugh meets Cole, who has stumbled upon organized crime while writing parking tickets. Of course, they start a hilarious race where they crush a truck when they both try to jump on the perps car.

If you think Cole was going to be a Riggs clone, we discover that Cole is a bit more content than Riggs. He moved to Los Angeles to reconnect with his daughter and tries to avoid "chaos," so when Murtaugh asks him to investigate the books, Cole refuses, choosing to follow the rules.

Of course, when Murtaugh is kidnapped by Chechen bank robbers, Cole decides he can handle a little chaos in his life. The couple finally teamed up to stop thieves from blowing up a block, and Murtaugh asks Cole to become his new partner.

Murtaugh also abandons Riggs Ghost when he sees a confession video of Garrett, confirming that he has killed his brother.

So, instead of Riggs and Murtaugh, we now have Murtaugh and Cole. Scott does a decent job in the role – he's a lot more jawbone, an American guy than Crawford. Its beginner status allows Wayans to take the lead and relax a bit, which is a great move for the series. Wayans was always the best half of the couple. And now that the series has dealt with Riggs' death, they can move on to business almost as usual next week.
