If you are a regular Delta Air Lines passenger, you may notice higher prices when checking your luggage.

The airline now charges $ 30 for the first piece of checked luggage, against $ 25 and $ 40 for the second piece of checked luggage, against $ 35, according to the Delta website. This is the price charged by JetBlue and United.

JetBlue opened the way last August, becoming the first major US carrier to charge $ 30 for the first checked bag. United Airlines matched them less than a week later. Canadian carriers WestJet Airlines and Air Canada also increased their transportation costs in August.

With new Delta prices in place, IndyStar has compiled a list of baggage screening costs on all airlines serving the Indianapolis International Airport. These prices are provided by the airline for standard baggage fees and do not reflect loyalty programs or special promotions.

Air Canada

For flights within the United States, Air Canada allows passengers to check the first bag for free, a second $ 70 bag and additional bags of $ 225 each, depending on the airline's baggage calculator. .

For flights between the United States and Canada, $ 30 for the first bag, $ 50 for the second, and $ 100 for each additional bag.

Allegiant Air

The airline offers varying prices depending on how you book, your reservation and the desired route. If they are purchased at the time of booking, the fees for the first and second checked baggage can reach $ 35 per piece. The specific amount depends on your airports of departure and arrival.

Bags paid before departure via Manage Travel or Online Check-In are between $ 15 and $ 45.

Baggage fees paid at the airport are $ 50 per way and per passenger, per bag for carry-on baggage and for the first five checked baggage.

Overweight bags between 41 and 70 pounds represent an additional $ 50; and bags from 71 to 99 pounds represent an additional 75 dollars.

For domestic flights, the airline charges $ 25 for the first bag, $ 35 for the second bag, $ 150 for the third bag and $ 200 for each additional bag.

For flights to Mexico and the Caribbean, the cost of the second bag is $ 40.

Transatlantic flights cost $ 100 for the second bag and $ 200 for each additional bag. There is a $ 60 charge for the first bag only for those traveling on a basic Transatlantic rate.

The transpacific flights make it possible to check for free the first two bags and each additional bag costs 200 dollars.

Alaska Airlines / Virgin America

The airlines charge 25 dollars for the first bag and 25 dollars for the second. The extra bags cost $ 75 each.

For bags under 50 pounds, the cost is $ 30 for the first and $ 40 for the second on the domestic flights. For flights to Canada, the second bag costs $ 50.

Customers are entitled to a personal item and carry-on baggage. One Jet will not accept any checked baggage.

South West

Southwest will accept the first two checked bags for free provided that the bags do not exceed 50 pounds and 62 inches. Extra or overweight bags cost $ 75 each.

United

United charges $ 30 for the first bag, $ 40 for the second and $ 150 for all additional bags. For international flights, the first bag is free and the second, 100 dollars.

According to the website, the checked baggage fee for the basic international economy is $ 60 for the first bag and $ 100 for the second.

Overweight bags between 51 and 70 pounds cost between $ 100 and $ 200 per bag; and bags between 71 and 100 pounds are $ 400 more per bag. Bags weighing more than 100 pounds will not be accepted.
