More and more people will lose their jobs at HTC while the device maker tries to straighten the ship.
HTC announced Monday it was laying off 1,500 employees, or about 22 percent of the total, in its Taiwan division to restore profitability, according to a tweet from Taipei's Bloomberg office director, Samson Ellis.

HTC confirmed the layoffs, but refused to give precise figures.
"The current reduction in the manufacturing workforce is a decisive step," said Patrick Seybold, vice president of communications at HTC, in an e-mail release.
The Company Taiwan has dropped a lot since its peak earlier in the decade, and it fired employees a number of times in order to regroup, and according to Digital Trends, it let employees of its US division combining his smartphone and VR teams after the resignation of Chialin Chang [1945923] from Cheadnong in 1945. In 2015, HTC cut 15% of its workforce, or about 2,300 employees, while it sought to refocus its efforts on products.
The new round of layoffs will be completed by the end of September, said Mr. Seybold
