Jackson was fired by Cleveland in late October after the team opened the season with a 2-5-1 record. He finished with a 3-36-1 record during his two-plus seasons as Cleveland's head coach.
Jackson has already had two separate stints as Bengals' assistant. He served as a team coach from 2004-15 and then returned to Cincinnati from 2012-15.
The Bengals have registered a 5-4 record in 2018. They fired defensive coordinator Austin Teryl on Monday.
