Gunshots broke out early Friday morning on I-94 near Brush Street in a road rage incident.

A spokesman for the Michigan State Police confirmed to the free press that shots had been fired and that the area was now safe. "Everything is under control," said Lt. Mike Shaw.

The incident resulted in the closure of central and right lanes on I-94 westbound just past Brush Street, resulting in significant slowdowns during the morning run. At 7.45 am, both lanes were reopened.

Traffic delays were heavy and could persist temporarily as drivers were in the area.

In what appears to be an unrelated accident, an accident a little further down the road temporarily shut off the highway ramp from I-75 south to I-94 westbound. The ramp has now reopened.
