HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) –

Everyone who passed by a large reel seen driving on the East Freeway on Thursday could not avoid it.

Marie Cervantez was navigating on the highway in her Volkswagen Beetle just before the fiber optic cable reel came loose.

The dashboard of Cervantez's car shows a plateau with two spools on its right, but when it passes in front of you, you hear the spool come off.

Cervantez says she heard a violent shock and realized that she was hitting a bridge, driving a coil into the traffic.

This is the part of this story that many Houstonians will probably recognize since the spool fell on I-10 near Wayside during lunch break.

What you may not know is that a car has been affected and that it belongs to Cervantez.

She parked to check her insect, which she lovingly calls Bocho. It was only after watching the film that she noticed that the coil was hitting her back.

"Fortunately, no one was touched by that, everyone stopped, but I kept going because I did not know it hit me, until I I notice it, "explained Cervantez.

She says she is happy that no one was hurt, but she noticed something else on the highway that was bothering her.

"I've noticed on the highway that a lot of people are texting in. It's not good, because it can happen and they will not, you know." , they'd better stop texting, "Cervantez said.

Cervantez says she's also putting a dashboard camera in the back of her car.

Rocks, debris and metal: When Houston drivers have to dodge obstacles on the road

The Houston Police Department told Eyewitness News that they could not disclose the name of the trucking company, but that the responsible driver would receive two tickets.

The driver received a service ticket violation ticket, due to a problem related to the driver's logbook, and he also received a violation of the clearance ticket. The police driver did not know the height of the truck.

The truck was removed from traffic while investigators determine the role of the trucking company.
