A head-on collision in Arizona Wednesday night killed eight people, including illegal immigrants, officials said.
The accident of two vehicles occurred around 22 hours. on the 79 national highway south of Florence, Arizona, announced a statement from the State Department of Public Security. The area is located more than 120 miles north of the Mexican border.
A Chevy suburban car with nine people inside was heading north on the highway before a Buick car in the opposite direction hit it, officials said.

"It's unclear why the southbound Buick left the center and collided with the Suburban," officials said.
The dead in the Chevrolet Suburban were the driver, the front passenger and four other passengers – who were illegal immigrants, according to the press release.
The other three passengers – also illegal immigrants – suffered "serious or even fatal injuries" and were transported to nearby hospitals, officials said.

"Of the nine occupants of the Suburban, the driver, front passenger and four additional passengers were killed. Three other passengers are in hospitals in the area with serious injuries or even death, "the statement said. "The driver and front passenger are US citizens and the other seven occupants are undocumented immigrants."
The authorities, with the help of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), are trying to identify the deceased in order to notify their families.
Two people from the Buick – the driver and the person in the front seat – also died, officials said, adding that "the soldiers are working to make notifications to the next of kin."
