Showtime canceled "I'm dying here" after two seasons.

The drama series, which featured among its executive producers Jim Carrey, followed a fictional group of comedians in Los Angeles in the 70's. The cast was led by Oscar winner Melissa Leo, who played the role of the owner of the Goldie nail comedy club. The actors also included Ari Graynor, Clark Duke, Michael Angarano, RJ Cyler, Andrew Santino, Erik Griffin, Al Madrigal and Jake Lacy. Jon Daly, Nicole Ari Parker, Xosha Roquemore, Stefania LaVie Owen and Brad Garrett joined the series in recurring roles in season 2.

It was based on William Knoedelseder's non-fiction book of the same name. Dave Flebotte, Carrey, Michael Aguilar, Christina Wayne, Cindy Chupack, Adam Davidson and Endemol Shine Studios served as executive producers for Season 2. Showtime produced "I'm Dying Up Here". Showtime confirmed the cancellation on Friday night.

The series has never been a hit, with a first season of 143,000 viewers per episode in Live + Same Day, making it one of Showtime's least-watched originals. At the start of the second season, Showtime paired the show with the top rated "Billions" on Sunday night. The move magnified the figures of "I die as it is", but the series has always garnered only about 180,000 viewers.

Despite the cancellation, Carrey remains in business with Showtime. The actor performs and produces the new series "Kidding", which filmed on September 9th. Carrey has received much criticism for her role as host of an iconic children's television show dealing with serious family issues. Aguilar also produced "Kidding", under the direction of Michel Gondry, director of "Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind".
