LouFest does not happen. This is a blow to the thousands of fans who wait every year for the music festival in Forest Park.
With the cancellation arriving a few days before the event, fans now have a gaping hole in their weekend plans. Here, in no particular order, there are other artistic activities and entertainment that can help relieve the pain of a lost LouFest.
The Sound of St. Louis Showcase

There is a consolation for fans who look forward to jazz and heritage programming at LouFest. Starting at 2 pm on Sunday, the Kranzberg Arts Foundation will bring together some of the musicians most severely affected by the cancellation: the local artists who were going to have a great time on the new jazz and heritage scene. Pü FeST

The organizers say the name is more of a playful variation than a heated jab at LouFest, but make no mistake: this weekend (low) music festival, now in its fifth year, is a thoughtful answer to this better known event. With similar lighting on local acts, this is a fix for the typical rock-oriented festival. Co-founder Luc Michalski said, "We are trying to ensure accurate representation of women, our queer community and the people of color in our community. If we just put in place 30 independent groups that are all white guys, we are not doing the right thing. It is almost useless to do it then. "
Basquiat Avant Basquiat: East 12th Street, 1979-1980

Public radio fans may know Chris Thile, the leader of the Punch Brothers band, as a presenter of "Live from Here". He and his four band members will bring their eclectic sound to St. Louis in a show starring Madison Cunningham as a special guest. Disco Ball is a creative way to bring potential customers to this embroidery and custom design shop. There will be a DJ as well as ice cream, snacks and drinks. Here's what the organizers say on the event's Facebook page: "We're having a party! Stop by Disco HQ for an evening of fun! Be the first to buy our fall products and see our studio. We do custom denim embroidery on the site, so do not forget your jacket! Come shopping, dance and mingle. You can not wait? We can not either!
And as for food lovers, they would have eaten at LouFest …
The seller Byrd & Barrel organizes FowlFest until Sunday. The Facebook event that he has published says a lot: "Due to the cancellation of Loufest, we have a ton of chicken. Please come eat it !!!!
Steve's two hot dogs also have a lot of extra food because of the cancellation. On Friday and Saturday, they offer $ 4 dogs for Chicago dogs and $ 5 mac and cheese dogs for people who bring their ticket stubs or credentials to show they have to work at the festival.

There is a growing movement to support local businesses planning to be suppliers to LouFest, spending money on supplies and registration fees. This Facebook page provides links to lists of restaurants, breweries and merchandisers who allegedly sold at LouFest.
