In-N-Out Burger pulls the line in Texas
For the mega In-N-Out hamburger chain, the double double dollar stops in Texas. Lynsi Snyder, the president of the 36-year-old Californian company, is committed to respecting the restaurant's geographical exclusivity policy. It was set up by his grandparents, Harry and Esther Synder, who founded the company in Baldwin Park, California, in 1948.
In an interview with Forbes, Snyder reveals that if In-N-Out is currently operating in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Texas, the franchise will not develop in East Lone Star State . Locations in Colorado and New Mexico, however, are part of the plans for expansion.
SCORE: Whataburger, Popeyes and Pappas BBQ make Houston the cleanest restaurant list
"I do not see ourselves spreading across the country, I do not see ourselves in all the states, take Texas – draw a line and stay to the left, that's when I'm alive," she said. to the magazine.
One of the reasons for this decision is that the company policy prohibits the use of freezers or microwaves and that more than 300 In-N-Out sites spread throughout the country are located at a day's notice. Road to three central warehouses so that meat and other ingredients stay fresh.
Another reason for exclusivity? You want what you can not have. "I like the fact that we are wanted when someone comes to town.I like the fact that we are unique. We are not on every street corner. You put us in every states and that takes away some of its luster, "said Synder. .
BEGINNING: In-N-Out Burger, Golf Course and Other Retailers Launch Former IT Redevelopment
And then there is the tough competition of hamburgers. In Texas, In-N-Out confronts Whataburger. The beloved San Antonio-based chain, founded in Corpus Christi in 1950, has 674 branches in its home country and generates a $ 2 billion business turnover.
In comparison, In-N-Out has opened 36 sites in Texas since 2011. Its first outpost in the Houston area is expected to open at The Grid, formerly owned by Texas Instruments in Stafford. Construction of the site began this fall.
