The Detroit Lions are in good health and ready to launch their regular season Monday night against the New York Jets.
Only reserve tackle Andrew Donnal will miss tonight's game due to injury. He was added to the injury report on Thursday with a knee injury and the team ruled him out on Saturday.
The other six inactive tonight for the Lions are all healthy scratches. They include running back Ameer Abdullah, defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson, defensive end Romeo Okwara, wide receiver Brandon Powell, cornerback Dee Virgin and goaltender Joe Dahl.
Robinson is probably the biggest surprise of the group. The former second-round pick was a start to the season for this defense last year, but he lost his starting point at training camp with veteran Ricky Jean Francois and the rookie pick in the fourth round Da ' Shawn Hand. The Lions seem to favor some of their most versatile plays in this game against the Jets attack tonight.
The Lions recruited veteran running back LeGarrette Blount as a free agent and recruited running back Kerryon Johnson in the second round. With Theo Riddick's abilities in the game that went on, this made Abdullah the fourth player in the race on the depth chart, and the odd player at stake with the team keeping Nick Bellore active.
Abdullah reported a lot of strikes in the pre-season and was scored on the depths chart as the Detroit kicker. So we will see who will be doing these tasks tonight.
Tyrell Crosby and Kenny Wiggins are the offensive linemen of reserve, Dahl being inactive and Donnal out.
