"A grateful nation bows to our brave police and security forces who have valiantly fought the terrorists during the Mumbai attacks," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter.

India has accused activists linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group of being responsible for these attacks and said that armed men, all but one, have been killed in the attack, were Pakistanis.

Pakistan condemned the attack, denied any involvement of any of its agencies and offered to cooperate with India in the investigation.

Nevertheless, tension mounted between nuclear-armed rivals after the attacks.

India and the United States accused Hafiz Saeed, the founder of LeT, of being the brains of the attack. He denied any involvement, but the Pakistani authorities placed him under house arrest for different periods. He was released most recently in November 2017.

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo called on Pakistan to comply with the US Security Council's obligations to impose sanctions on those responsible for the attack, including the LeT and its affiliates.

"It is an affront to the families of the victims that after ten years, those who planned the Mumbai attack have still not been convicted for their involvement," Pompeo said in a statement.

A spokesman for the Pakistani government did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The US State Department has also announced a reward of up to $ 5 million for any information leading to an arrest or conviction of those involved in carrying out the Mumbai attack in 2008.

Chabad House in Mumbai, a Jewish center attacked by gunmen, unveiled Sunday a memorial dedicated to the victims, which has been renamed the "Nariman lighthouse".

India has secretly hanged the only survivor of the militant squad, Pakistani Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, in 2012.
