A 10-foot, 150-pound inflatable colon, used to teach the dangers of colon cancer, was stolen from the University of Kansas Cancer Center, reported KMBC.

The settler, worth $ 4,000, was stolen from the bed of a van parked in Kansas City, KMBC reported. It was in Kansas City for a march / race scheduled for Saturday at Swope Park, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper reported.

"Screening for colorectal cancer is the most powerful weapon we have against colorectal cancer," said John Ashcraft, a surgical oncologist at the University of Kansas Cancer Center, in a statement released on Friday. "Colon cancer is a difficult topic for many people and the giant inflatable colon, 150 pounds, 10 feet long is an excellent topic of conversation."

According to a press release, the Coalition Against Cancer is shipping the inflatable article across the country so that walkers and runners can see and learn more about the progression of colon cancer in a unique way.
