If you, like me, invest a lot in all things superheroes, and if you've been close to the Internet lately, you've probably noticed that the new Spider Man the video game is take the world by storm. And indeed, there is a lot to like in the game. Some say that this entry actually makes for Spider-Man what the famous Arkham Asylum made for Batman. For years, many Spider-Man games have been clunkytedious, and even downright boring. But for the first time in a long time, this game is exhilarating. Its amazingly realistic and fun web-swinging physics, in the Marvel Universe Easter eggs, fully realized New York CityThis game has people who spend hours on their consoles.

But sometimes, it's the smallest details that come out the most. Recently, the user of Reddit u / mk4rim found something very interesting during his game and decided to share it with the Muslim community Reddit. In a clip attached to the original message, u / mk4rim plays Spider-Man as he hits a Muslim woman wearing a hijab. When he presses the button to interact, the video shows that the woman is extremely excited to meet the costumed hero.
"Spidey!" She said, then offers her hand. Spider-Man, always delighted to please a fan, makes a hug. However, the woman hesitates, then clumsily places her hands on her chest, denying the hug. Peter Parker steps back, probably wondering what's going on. In this regard, the woman always says nervous: "Are you okay … uh … or maybe … can we just pretend that we stayed tight?

For most players, it will probably be a very strange NPC. However, for the Muslim public, this interaction is a wonderful surprise. Because in a climate where the religion of Islam and the depictions of its followers are often ridiculously wrong and generally shocking, we find here an incredibly accurate example.
The custom may not be familiar to most, so let me explain. In most Muslim circles, it is generally not advisable for a man or woman to touch a person of the opposite sex if they are not part of the family. This would include handshakes, five years and even hugs. Do all Muslims agree and follow this? Of course not. But there are many, many Muslims who do it, and although this is probably an aspect of a Muslim's daily life, it is a detail that few others know. So, imagine the surprise of a young Muslim player when she discovers this interaction in the new game.
Insomniac has not only filled its New York with citizens as diverse as the real city, but they have striven to ensure that these citizens behave realistically.

There have been talk a lot on diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. Many make fun of the lack of, while the others celebrate the steps we've done. Nevertheless, it seems that entertainment companies are listening to the demands, with the rise of diversity programsmore diverse green lighting choice, and a series of major blockbusters conducted by female protagonists. But the situation is particularly serious for Muslims, because not only have the media distorted the population, but they have often portrayed them as vile, evil and criminal. For a video game to take the first steps to counter this trend, it would have to differentiate itself decisively and potentially become a market leader.
Marvel has already done a lot to meet this need. Spider-Man: Homecoming shows a hijab carrying a student in the background and Mrs. Marvel, a young Muslim American hero, has created her own storm in comic book sales. And now, IIn this climate, for a game to give us a happy and authentic moment of a young Muslim fan meeting his hero, this puts the Spider Man Thu, Marvel and Insomniac Games miles ahead of their competitors.
