There are around 5,000 different species of ladybugs in the world, including 46 in the United Kingdom.
The Harlequin species, or Harmonia axyridis, would have arrived in Britain after landing in Europe after being introduced to the European continent, after being introduced to help control pests attacking plant species.

Experts say that an effective method to eliminate clusters of harelquins is to suck them when they seem to be sleeping or to be dormant.
The obstruction of entrances such as windows, door frames and air currents can also reduce the number of ladybugs entering your home.
If insects create yellow spots on surfaces and furniture, the best way to combat the marks is to use white vinegar.
