The road to the exit of Sony Venom the film was long and winding. In fact, it's been more than ten years. Sony began planning an independent movie Venom after the release of the character in 2007 Spider-Man 3. This is true: Venom has been in development since Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker! After two reboots of the Spider-Man universe, the time has come for Venom, with a solo film about the journalist Eddie Brock, merged with an extraterrestrial symbiont. But what other characters from the Spider-Man universe will appear in the movie? It has been confirmed that Spider-Man itself will not appear. So we focused on another potential character: Carnage.
For the uninitiated, Carnage – the alter ego of Cletus Kasady – is a longtime foe of Venom's comics in Marvel. Like Venom himself, Carnage draws its powers from a powerful symbiote from a once benevolent but corrupt species. For many of the years that Venom was in development at Sony, Carnage was openly described as villain of the film; at one point, the working title of the film was Venom: Carnage. By the time the 2018 film was in progress, however, Carnage seemed to have almost disappeared from the plot. In its place is Riot Ahmed (below), a lesser known symbiote less known, and Carnage is not found in the cast.
If you were hoping that Carnage would appear, do not lose hope for the moment! Some theories suggest that Carnage will appear after all. One theory suggests that the riot of Ahmed is actually a red herring and that it will be revealed to be carnage after all. Another suggests that the character of Woody Harrelson, who is not named and should appear in a cameo role that will stage future appearances, will turn out to be Carnage (or a pre-Carnage Cletus Kasady). This one makes a lot of sense since Carnage is the ultimate villain of Venom, a kind of bad image of morally complicated Venom.
Whatever the plan, it is likely that Carnage will appear at some point in the new universe Sony / Marvel. it's just a question of when and how.
