Isaiah Hicks signs with New York Knicks Two Way Deal former UNC basketball player

The New York Knicks announced Tuesday, July 3 that the team had signed Isaiah Hicks for a two-man contract.

Hicks returns to the Knicks as a player for two this season. He first signed a bilateral agreement with the team last year (October 20, 2017) and played in 18 games during the 2017-2018 season, averaging 4.4 points and 2,3 rebounds in 13.3 minutes. He has recorded two-digit games, including a 15-point high and four assists against Cleveland on April 11th.

Hicks played 37 games (36 starts) for the Westchester Knicks (G-League), averaging 15.6 points on 57.7% of shots and eight rebounds, helping Westchester qualify for the playoffs and the seeded Eastern Conference for the first time in the history of the franchise.

Hicks is currently participating with the team at the Las Vegas Summer League. 19659002] Under the NBA rules, teams are allowed to have two players in their lineup at one time, in addition to their 15-man roster in the regular season. A two-way player for the Knicks will provide services primarily to the league's affiliate G of the team – the Westchester Knicks – but can spend up to 45 days with New York, not counting the time before the start of the Westchester training camp and at the conclusion of their season.

Hicks played four seasons in North Carolina, the first three as a great reserve man before starting 39 games as a senior in 2016-17. On 6-8, Oxford, N.C. was the sixth man in the year of ACC in 2015-17.

As a senior starter, Hicks averaged 11.8 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 57.6% on the field. His percentage of career shooting in North Carolina was 57.3 percent .

Entering as a five-star player, Hicks struggled with foul-play problems and kept his consistency throughout his academic career, but most of all he remembered his senior campaign, which he styled with a clutch and a score against Gonzaga 27 seconds from the end. The Tar Heels will continue to win the title 71-65.
