GAZA / JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli jets hit targets in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday after a rocket was fired by Palestinian militants on a house in Beersheba town in southern Israel. , announced the Israeli army.

A medical official told Israeli radio that three people were taken to the hospital after the rocket hit the house. Residents of the Gaza Strip said that jet aircraft had targeted eight locations. The army said that another rocket had been launched from Gaza and had fallen to the sea.

Still photos broadcast on Israeli channel 2 showed large black plumes of smoke rising from various parts of the Gaza Strip.

An Egyptian security delegation went to the Gaza Strip to try to restore calm.

The Israeli army chief cut a visit to the United States and returned home. Schools should be closed in Beersheba for the day, the newspaper reported.

According to Israeli reports, Israel closed the commercial and pedestrian crossing in the Gaza Strip and reduced the fishing limit to three miles.

Israel withdrew its troops and settlers from Gaza in 2005, but maintains strict control of its land and sea borders, citing security concerns. Egypt also restricts movement of entry and exit from Gaza to its border.
