They appeared on the news; locally, nationally, internationally. They created an online fund to help Johnny get back to life. people ate it. In just a few clicks, no matter who, anywhere in the world, could contribute to this remarkable change.
So how did it unfold, was he mean and accusing, and did he involve lawyers and now cops?
That does not mean that in the end, the story of how Bobbitt spent his last $ 20 still does not make us feel good.
After reports that the $ 400,000 raised may have disappeared, GoFundMe, the donation site where it all began, promised to make Bobbitt whole. Bobbitt's lawyers have put him in a detox program.

But for now, history is a case: he sues McClure and Amico in civil court, claiming that he has not received all the money paid to help him. The law enforcement agencies executed search warrants, but no criminal charges were filed.
