Friday will be another dull and dreary day, with a lot of rain.
On Friday morning, the National Weather Service broadcast a flash watch over much of southern New England, as the region is about to get wet, while the ground is already saturated and the rivers are high.
"Periods of heavy rain are possible today, and given the level of rain we have seen recently, many places where water stagnates normally are already full or draining," forecasters said Friday. .
Forecasters have said that rain should continue until Friday afternoon and that 1 to 2 inches are possible, up to 3 inches in some areas.
In Massachusetts, flash flood monitoring will be in effect until 4 pm for Barnstable, Bristol, Essex, Hampden, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk and Worcester County. Friday.
"An area of moderate to locally high rainfall is expected to fall south of New England this morning, heading east before leaving the area later this afternoon," the meteorological service said. "This system will likely produce very localized totals in which sites under a heavy group might see 1-3" while others see less than an inch. "
The Boston area is expected to reach about half an inch to an inch of rain. According to forecasters, the highest totals are likely to be in northern Connecticut, Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
It will be cloudy Friday night, then will become partly cloudy. According to forecasters, areas of fog will probably develop from Saturday to Saturday, especially along the coast, and temperatures will drop in the 40s and 50s.
The weekend should be nice and pleasant. Forecasters said Saturday will be hot with plenty of sunshine and weather reaching the mid-70s, and that the evening will be clearer with lows in the 40s. Sunday will be sunny and a little cooler, with highs. in the mid-sixties.
