It's up to Eli Manning to restore the pride of the Giants name

There are pictures of Hall of Fame giants inside the Quest Diagnostics Center at 1925 Giants Drive, from Wellington Mara to Bill Parcells to Harry Carson to Lawrence Taylor to Michael Strahan, and four Lombardi trophies in the showcase of lobby.

And the reminder of who they should be and what they should be playing for is to watch the Giants in front of the locker room wall as they head for the MetLife Stadium playground on game day.

This is a sign that reads "GIANTS PRIDE" in red, sandwiched around a "NY" blue on white background.

"Almost on foot, everyone just gives it a shot," Evan Engram said on Friday.

It's time for the 2018 Giants to show the Pride Giants and take away the Pride Giants with them in Jerry World Sunday night against the Cowboys.

Because that's what it will take to extinguish the embers left by the fire of the 3-13 which almost burned the Giants Pride, and prevent a new start of 0-2.

Giants Pride became a flickering flame at the end of the Tom Coughlin era, trying to never surrender. Ben McAdoo brought the Giants back to the playoffs as a rookie head coach, but Pat Shurmur had to be summoned to restore the Giants pride after The House That Mara Built was left ashes last season.

With all the new faces on the 2018 Giants, it's more important than ever for Eli Manning to show them what Giants Pride means.

He remains the Pride of the Giants, and everyone knows that he has delivered two Super Bowl championships to New York.

Everyone also knows that he has not won a playoff game since the Super Bowl XLVI, and that terrifies some of the same Giants fans who rallied to him after the infamous November match that ############################################################################# 39, he is 37 years old.

Nevertheless, his owners and coaches swear by him and ask him to go back before the time was up on him and on him.

Manning will forever be the symbol of Giants Pride, for his commitment and dedication to his craft and his franchise, as well as for the HOF skins on his wall. Same guy every day and all that.

But with the best group of weapons he has ever had around him, he needs to play better than last season and win football games. And start winning them now, and prove that the Giants are right to write Saquon Barkley instead of Sam Darnold. Everyone around the Giants tells you that Manning still has a lot to do in the tank. It's time to see him. Even with Ereck Flowers trying to block for him.

Zak DeOssie is the other giant who won two Super Bowls, so he knows exactly what Giants Pride means.

"It's distressing for this organization because it does the same thing for you when you're producing in the field," said DeOssie. "Work as hard as you can.

"It's playing for the name on the front of the shirt and the side of the helmet, and that's what happens."

DeOssie was impressed by Shurmur.

"I think he's well aware of what the giants' organization has to say," said DeOssie, "and I think he's done a good job so far, allowing us to go into the right way. I am excited about the future.

They should do themselves a favor and take this GIANTS PRIDE sign with them to Jerry World. Even better if Eli Manning serves as a living and breathable reminder.
