Why now?
Shams Charania of Athletic:
Sources on @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadiumThe Washington Wizards have had unstable practice in recent days, with verbal altercations between players and an exasperated Bradley Beal saying to team officials, "I've been dealing with this for seven years."

Teams have this type of practice, and the tension is always in the middle of underperformance. Sorcerers are 5-11 so far this year. Several players have had verbal exchanges in this practice, league sources said. https://t.co/U79FqusKLL

Charania is right: these types of heated practices sometimes occur. My general rule: when it's so bad, the details come to the public, the situation is worse than normal.
Beal is not wrong to say that these problems were all too common during his stay in Washington. Really, it's remarkable, the Wizards have been such a hit – no lost seasons, four playoff appearances, three straight wins over the last five years – despite the many fights.
But it becomes so exhausting and losing only weakens tolerance. Beal sounds tired.
Maybe that leads Washington to exchange one of its stars. More likely, Wall and Beal continue to resist tension and eventually reach a reasonable level. Like always.
