J. Green of Cincinnati Bengals to play some games with injured toe

CINCINNATI – The Bengals are crossing fingers to say that a surgery will not be necessary for wide receiver A.J. Green after being injured at the toe during their match against the Buccaneers last Sunday.

Green is scheduled to meet Dr. Robert Anderson this week to diagnose his injury and determine if surgery is needed, said a source to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Green should miss a few games and try to avoid surgery unless it's absolutely necessary, the source said. The Bengals are on their week off and welcome the Saints next week.

Green did not seem initially concerned just after the match and told reporters that he had just stuck his toe. "The toe is fine," he said before leaving the locker room a few minutes later laughing and joking with his teammates.

Despite his positive attitude, the next day, we saw Green put on a walking shoe on his right foot, and he stays there now.

Green scored 11 yards in the middle of the field while he was only 17 seconds tied against the Bucs, but he then slammed and pointed his foot. He removed his shoe as soon as he arrived on the edge of the field and sports coaches came to talk to him. The Bengals finally won their game two goals later, so we do not know if Green could have come back if the match had been extended.

Green is the Bengals leader in receptions and touchdowns, so losing him for a long period of time would be a blow for an offense that was already without Tyler Eifert, Giovani Bernard, Tyler Kroft, John Ross and Billy Price.
