SRINAGAR: One day after three policemen were kidnapped and killed by terrorists, security forces on Saturday launched a massive cordon and search operation in the Shopian and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said. police.

The cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched early this morning in at least eight villages in Pulwama and Shopian districts in southern Kashmir, a police official said.

He said that a joint team of police, army and paramilitaries of the CRPF had launched the CASO to drive terrorists out of the area. The official said the operation was taking place when the latest reports were released.

Three policemen were kidnapped on Friday and killed by terrorists in Shopian District.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted between youth groups and security forces during the CASO in Shermal at Shopian, the official said.

He said young people threw stones at the security forces who were searching the area.

Security forces fired tear gas to suppress protests, the official added, adding that clashes were ongoing.
