Jack Black's family was at his side on Wednesday, while the 49-year-old actor received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Posing together after the ceremony, Black was all smiles as he stood beside his wife Tanya Haden and her sons Samuel, 12, and Thomas, 10.

Black was the 2,645th person to receive this honor. His star was placed next to Stromberg's historic clock on Hollywood Boulevard, as a tribute to his new film, The house with a clock in its walls.

Edge costar Tim Robbins was in the crowd for the ceremony, which was partly by Rock school costar Mike White and director Richard Linklater.

"I'm so nervous because I'm not used to receiving praise from people I love and respect so much," said Black, taking the podium. "It's very embarrassing for me. In some ways it is torture, but it is also extremely humiliating and I can not believe everyone has come. … I thought nobody would come to my stupid thing. Look at all these beautiful people. Thank you for the love.

Of course, the comedian could not help but joke or make a joke – starting with the fact that the star says he should do something else: withdraw.

"I wanted one of those things for so long that I'm a child. I thought, "Oh, man. If you get one of these things on the sidewalk, it means you have succeeded. And I feel like I finally understood this sweet brass ring. And the question is, where are we going now? Black said.

"I am here to announce my retirement," he added, to the jokes of the spectators. "I have the thing! Why continue! Once you get the thing, I did it. I officially did it. And I will focus on diet and exercise.

Black also had strong words for President Donald Trump.

"I love you so much," Black told the crowd before leaving the podium, according to a video posted on the official Walk of Fame website and captured by Variety. "Except for Donald Trump. It's a piece of s-! Calm down, I love you!

Previously, Black was a vocal critic of Trump. On the day of his inauguration, he and his Tenacious D band mate, Kyle Glass, performed their protest song – "The Government Totucks Sucks" – at an anti-protest rally.

"We have not played this song for years because it never felt appropriate," he told the crowd in a shared performance video online. "But now we are happy to release the beast. The government is completely nil.
