Jalen Ramsey does not leave Jacksonville for the moment

Early Sunday morning, Jacksonville fans were preparing to say goodbye to cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Six hours later, they may never leave.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 11th week of the Jaguars has announced that the reigning AFC South champions would be open to Ramsey's exchange during the off season. It only took the Jaguars about 50 minutes to stifle any new rumors by announcing with defiance that Ramsey was not going anywhere.

Regardless of the origin of the rumor, Ramsey showed up Sunday with perhaps his best performance in 2018 and reminded the NFL that he was more than capable of supporting all his trashy discussions.

But his best piece of the day could be his first interception of the contest. Ramsey swung the ball when he fell to the ground, keeping his hand under the leather to prevent him from touching the grass.

Ramsey's play can not solve all the problems of the Jaguars. It can, however, provide the necessary leeway for a franchise that seems doomed to the worst in AFC South.

Where does the rumor of commerce come from?

Anyone who has watched the Jaguar season would not have been too surprised to see Ramsey sidelined in Jacksonville. At 3-7, the Jags were disappointing, that's the least we can say. They were outclassed 163-88 in their six-game losing streak. Add to that Ramsey's propensity for colorful quotes and it's easy to label it as a "distraction".

Curiously, it was Ramsey's turn to eliminate distractions on Sunday. He denied that the ESPN report even played a role in his performance.

Ramsey is in no way solely responsible for the fall of Jacksonville after qualifying for the AFC Championship last year. The Jags rank 20th in the attack this year after scoring the league's fourth-lowest points (176).

Juxtapose the fact that Ramsey is projecting shadow on almost every star player this season, and of course, commercial rumors will begin to fly.

If you fall out of favor as fast as Jacksonville this season, the changes are still ahead. Getting rid of one of the most coveted defensive backs of the game is however not likely to remedy the situation.

That's why it's even more logical for the Jags to deny the report immediately.
