Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston was suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Jameis Winston apologized Thursday to the driver of Uber who accused him of sexually assaulting him. On Friday, the driver, whose name is Kate, issued her first public statement since the incident.

Kate was driving Winston after leaving a nightclub in Scottsdale, Arizona in March 2016 after getting intoxicated, and Winston would have grabbed her crotch while they waited in a drive-thru alley restaurant. She filed a complaint with Uber about it and the privileges of Winston were revoked. The driver did not complain but she shared her story with Buzzfeed News last fall. The NFL launched an investigation into the allegations shortly thereafter.

Here is the statement obtained by Talal Ansari from Buzzfeed News :

I am pleased to see the NFL discipline Jameis Winston. I appreciate her excuses even though she needs work

I would like to publicly pay tribute to the NFL investigators, especially Lisa Friel and John Iannarelli, for their kind professional investigation and thorough. [19659003] My experience should emphasize the importance of believing women when they have the courage to come forward for sexual assault. Maybe this night could have been avoided if we had thought of others before me.

Mr. Winston said, "Girls must be quiet, polite and soft. I do not agree

#MeToo

Winston, who is entering the final year of his four-year contract with the Bucs, has informed the leagues that he accepted his discipline and will not be attractive.
