James Bond 25: Cary Joji Fukunaga Named New Director

The 41-year-old is the first American to shoot a James Bond film and replaces British filmmaker Danny Boyle, who resigned last month citing "creative differences".

James Bond's official Twitter account and website confirmed Fukunaga's role in production, which will begin on March 4.

"Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that Bond 25 would start shooting at Pinewood Studios on March 4, 2019, under the direction of director Cary Joji Fukunaga, with a worldwide release on February 14, 2020" .

"We are excited to be working with Cary, and his versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," said Wilson and Broccoli.

Fukunaga recently directed "Maniac". a black comedy for Netflix with Emma Stone and Jonah Hill.

In 2015 he also directed the film "Beasts of No Nation" with Idris Elba.

The film will be Craig's fifth and final appearance as Bond after playing in "Casino Royale", "Quantum of Solace", "Skyfall" and "Specter". The film will be released on February 14, 2020.
