HOUSTON – Reigning MVP James Harden did not put an end to the Houston Rockets' 100-89 loss to Utah Jazz on Wednesday due to a contraction of his left hamstring.
Harden will be reassessed Thursday to determine the severity of the injury, but he does not expect to waste a lot of time.
"This is nothing serious, nothing serious," said Harden, who missed seven games in January of last season due to a strain on the hamstring 2nd grade. "This is nothing close to last year, just be careful."
Harden felt tension in the hamstring earlier in the game, said coach Mike D's Antoni. Harden left with 5:19 to play with the Rockets with seven points in advance and did not return.
The Rockets, which recorded the best record of the NBA at 65-17 last season, dropped to 1-3. They lost the two games they played without Chris Paul, who will return from Friday's suspension against the Los Angeles Clippers.
"It's a process," said Harden, who has collected 29 points, seven assists and seven turnovers in the loss against the Jazz. "Of course, last year was the same, we're great, it's going to be the same this year."
