Said Donald Glover's host: "They say it's a young me, but I say it's more beautiful."
Jamie Foxx, host of BET Awards, has so far held the promise of the show, which honors the best of black entertainment, but not when it comes to Childish Gambino's "This Is America" .
"This song should not be joked," said Foxx leaving the Microsoft Theater script Sunday night (June 24). The emcee of the night imitated Donald Glover's dance moves in the provocative video released last month as Glover watched the crowd.
Foxx continued: "This young man, Childish Gambino, Donald Glover – singer, songwriter, philanthropist, movie star, overall badass … A true artist, I want to recognize you."
Inviting Glover to the stage, the two kissed each other, then Glover took a microphone. "I'm really happy to be in this room with everyone," said star "Atlanta" shouting Lena Waithe, Issa Rae (the latter is not present) and the HBO series "Insecure" ". "I really did not expect to get up here," said Glover, laughing.

Foxx joked a bit about the impact that Glover has made on entertainment in recent years, noting Glover's showwear. "Pajamas," said Glover.

The BET Awards close a weekend of events that includes concerts by Sza and Chris Brown as well as evenings of labels and performers.
