Japan successfully launches Kounotori-7 spacecraft at ISS – JAXA

According to a broadcast on the website of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Japan has successfully launched an H-IIB launch vehicle carrying a Kounotori-7 spacecraft with cargo to the Space Station International Federation (ISS).

TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – September 23, 2018) Japan has successfully launched an H-IIB launch vehicle carrying a Kounotori-7 spacecraft with cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). Exploration Agency (JAXA).

The launch, repeatedly postponed for technical reasons, took place on Sunday at 17:52 Japanese time (17:52 GMT) from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture.

The Kounotori-7 should deliver to the ISS a capsule that will bring to the Earth the results of the experiments conducted aboard the station.

It is necessary to check its resistance to the loads during the passage in the terrestrial atmosphere and to check its capacity to convey cargoes safely from the space.

The spacecraft also carries lithium-ion batteries and an experimental set of two small STARS-Me satellites, which is the first step towards the implementation of the space lift construction project.
