Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano recapped UT's victory over Kentucky

Josh Allen had just hit Jarrett Guarantano on the floor, but the Tennessee quarterback did not seem to bother him.

Guarantano appeared, had a few words for the talented Kentucky defender, then brushed his shoulders. He felt good. He had just finished a 34-yard strike for Tim Jordan to prepare the Flights for their first touchdown.

"There is no success that will make me go out," Guarantano said.

Guarantano and Allen both come from New Jersey.

"I have known him for a while and he is an excellent player and I had a lot of fun with him," said Guarantano.

The flights had a good time Saturday night.

They did not look like an outsider in a 24-7 win over Kentucky, No. 12. Driven by their quarterback, they showed a bit of bragging.

The Flights (5-5, 2-4 LP) proved they still had Kentucky at Neyland Stadium, where the Wildcats (7-3, 5-3) had not won since 1984.

Tennessee has surpassed last season's total of wins. With an additional victory, the Flights will make sure of an auction. That would be an undeniable progress under freshman Jeremy Pruitt.

"The University of Tennessee is supposed to play bowl," said Pruitt. "It's the expectations here. It's my expectations. That's what players expect from us. "

To achieve this goal, Tennessee needed a strong November month. Flights have improved to 2-0 this month. The Winnable games against Missouri (6-4) and Vanderbilt (4-6) remain.

"We are trying to be unbeaten in November," said Marquez Callaway.

Callaway played the deciding game by scoring 39 yards on Hail Mary of Guarantano to end the first half.

"It was a big boost," said Guarantano.

And of course, Guarantano did not hesitate to celebrate his completion.

"You know how I'm doing after we've done great games. I'm a little happy, he says.

Guarantano said not to target Callaway in particular. He instead launched a point in the end zone, where three Flights and three Wildcats met. If Callaway had not caught the pass, his teammate Jauan Jennings could have done it.

Jennings caught a Hail Mary for a touchdown two years ago against Georgia. Callaway's figures, Jennings, agreed to share this one.

"If I had abandoned him, he would probably have been crazy, but since I caught him, he was happy for me," Callaway said.

Callaway's touch gave UT a 17-0 lead at half-time. His advantage was inflated after Guarantano made a decisive pass for Dominick Wood-Anderson for a 2-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter.

The scoreboard showed 24-0 at that time – territory unknown for the flights of the last two seasons.

"It was good," said Guarantano. "We are not used to it. We really felt that we needed to do more. "
