Jayme Closs: police remain puzzled by the disappearance of a teenager

Despite 100 volunteers and more than 800 tips, the authorities still have not found a Wisconsin teenager missing, whose parents were found fatally shot and wounded at home earlier this week.

Police are looking for 13-year-old Jayme Closs since the authorities arrived at her family home in Barron, WI early Monday morning, and found her parents, James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, an elderly 46 years old, dead in the interior.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzpatrick confirmed that Jayme's parents had been shot dead and that their deaths had been classified as homicidal. He added that he thought Jayme was present at the death of his parents.

"We think Jayme was home at the time of the killings and is still in danger," he said Wednesday in comments posted on the ministry's Facebook page.

On Thursday, the Barron County Sheriff's Department invited 100 volunteers to search an intersection in Barron for evidence.

"Today, with the help of community volunteers, we are systematically searching for items of probative value that may be related to Jayme's disappearance," said Barron County officials.

Later on Thursday, the sheriff's department issued another press release confirming that, despite more than 800 tips, "nothing has been found."

The County Sheriff's Office is working with local, federal and federal law enforcement partners – including the FBI – to locate Jayme. An Amber alert was issued Monday for the teenager, while on Tuesday it was reported that she could have been spotted in Miami.

Police described Jayme Closs as 5 feet tall, 100 pounds with green eyes and strawberry blonde hair. It is considered extinct and "endangered". They asked anyone with information about where they were to contact the authorities. The police have not disclosed any information regarding any suspects involved in the situation or if Closs is considered a victim of kidnapping.
