Jean Smart approves the new "Designing Women".

Smart, who played the role of Charlene Frazier Stillfield in the CBS sitcom, is back for the reboot developed by ABC.

"I'm going to try to make an appearance definitely," Smart said Variety Thursday night at the premiere of his latest film, "Life Itself". "In fact, I was talking to [show creator] Linda Bloodworth-Thomason today. It will be interesting to see. She has not sent me the script yet.

Smart described the new series as a "new generation of women's designers, with our kids". The original lasted seven seasons before ending in 1993.

The story of the reboot came hours after Thomason told The Hollywood Reporter that his former CEO, Leslie Moonves, had sabotaged his career, keeping her under contract for seven years while offering all her ideas.

Smart said she was unaware of Moonves' alleged treatment of Thomason. "They did things in a certain way that I did notI do not always like it, but no, I did not know Linda was going through it, she said. "I was shocked."

Smart added, "I just texted him and said, 'Oh my god, Linda. Go on girl. "

Moonves was ousted from CBS on Sunday after being accused by several women of sexual assault and harassment. In a statement, he said, "Misleading claims made decades ago are now being made against me and are not compatible with who I am."

"When" Designing Women "was finished, I was not in the show yet, but in the end, it just did a full sweep of all the shows on women," said Smart. "I want to say [he] just line up all those shows that were men featuring. "
