After more than 230 proposals and a full year of data collection and research finalists, Amazon's leader, Jeff Bezos, said that when the time came to make a decision, he would follow his "heart".

Bezos and his team aggressively researched which of the 20 finalists announced in January would be the best fit for the company's second seat. Amazon has announced that the winning city would be announced by the end of the year.
Although we have tried to keep details of the cities that society ultimately monitors, many reports in recent weeks have reduced it to five cities.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon executives have visited New York, Newark, New Jersey and Chicago in the past two months. In addition, the company followed up with other sites, including Miami and the Washington, DC area, five of which are among the 20 finalists for its $ 5 billion second-seat project.
However, other cities, like Raleigh, NC, have not heard of the e-commerce giant for months, the Journal notes.
Last month, Bezos told a packed house at the Economic Club of Washington that his team had made tremendous progress in its quest for a second seat, which will last all year. They will announce this decision before the end of the year.
"The team is working hard and we will get there," Bezos said.
Although a spokesperson for Amazon did not immediately respond to FOX Business's comment request on the report, there was a lot of buzz around Chicago as the main competitor.
In August, the Chicago Tribune announced that the company's representatives had made a second visit to Windy City to discover a new 62-acre development site called The 78.
However, last month, the news that Amazon had joined the CCD had fueled speculation that the company could shrink in this region.
Indeed, earlier this month, the New York Times reported that many analysts believe that northern Virginia checks for the largest number of boxes when it comes to location ideal. He notes that the region already hosts the cloud computing division of Amazon and, to top it off, Bezos already has a large mansion in the area and the largest newspaper – The Washington Post.
Nevertheless, sources told the Journal that no final decision had been taken and that the company was still in negotiations with several cities.
