Two weeks after declaring that Dak Prescott was "somewhere in between" callers Jared Goff and Cam Newton, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, seemed to double his quarter and team offensive.
At an appearance on 105.3 The Fan Friday, Mike Bacsik asked Jones when he watched the Los Angeles Rams play the Minnesota Vikings Thursday night football, what Jones said that he did not do it. Bacsik then asked what Jones had seen Cowboys this season, which could match Rams' achievements.
"Well, I like our offensive line when it compares to the Rams or, to be precise, since we are comparing the Rams, but I love our offensive line," said Jones via 105.3 The Fan. "I think it's fair to say that we have good feedbacks.
"The quarterback – I remember Goff when he arrived for the first time, they moved him at a slower pace than Dak's – but I know we were as proud of Dak as those of Rams. we are proud of their quarterbacks, we did it and we felt it in the past, so when I see them behaving in a way that creates the offense they have suffered, I look at our staff – I do not I do not have to get to basically see that. "
Jones then compared the two defenses, which is worth noting when the Cowboys are currently third in the league overall and the Rams rank ninth. But drawing off offensive similarities between the Cowboys and the Rams is certainly turning heads.
Of course, both units possess powerful offensive lines and each team has an elite running back – Rams has Todd Gurley, Cowboys have Ezekiel Elliott – but the parallels probably stop when we look at the numbers .
After Thursday's victory over the Vikings, the Rams are ranked second in both offense (468.5 per game) and score (35 points per game). The Cowboys ranks 30th overall (277.7) and 31st (13.7) with an opportunity to improve Sunday's results.
At the quarterback position, Prescott has failed to get 200 yards in nine of the last 11 games with eight total touchdowns. Goff, however, has only two games not to have touched 200 yards and made 26 touchdowns in the same period, including five on Thursday night against the Vikings.
The Rams currently have three receivers with 323 yards or more over the season. The Cowboys have a receiver, Cole Beasley, with over 100 yards in three games in total.
"You say," Well, but we might not have the established receiver that they have, "Jones said." Well, last year they had [Tavon] Austin. We had Austin this year. They traded with us, we got it. So, when I look at what we could do – and I put my finger on the staff and make progress with what we want to do with our staff – I do not think I can approach this type of productivity. "
Austin, who the Cowboys acquired through trading with the Rams in the NFL draft in 2018, entered the league as the eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft, but was not able to to bring everything together.
Prior to joining the Cowboys, Austin contributed 317 yards (270) to a Rams offense that totaled 5,784 yards in 2017. He played in the fourth week in a Cowboys uniform with five catches for 81 yards and 34 yards.
Meanwhile, the offensive results in the field contrast sharply between the Rams 4-0 and the 1-2 Cowboys.
Jones, however, pointed out that the point that he had surrounding the similarities in talent and quality of players on both offenses, not an average Cowboys expect more than 30 points per game as the Rams.
The radio host did not buy it, though.
"I do not see everything and I do not know how much the Cowboy fans see a similarity between the Rams and the Cowboys," Bacsik told the owner of the Cowboys.
"That's why you do radio and they do coaching," replied Jones.
