Passengers were bleeding ears and noses after the cockpit crew forgot to turn on the cabin pressure system during a flight to India.

Videos of the Jet Airways flight between Mumbai (western India) and Jaupur (north) show passengers wearing oxygen masks.

Of the 166 passengers on the Boeing 737, more than 30 have reported ear and nosebleeds, while some have complained of migraines.

The flight had to return to Mumbai shortly after takeoff due to the mistake and the travelers received treatment at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai.

Eight people were reportedly hospitalized.

The aviation authorities confirmed that the cabin crew had been taken out of service while investigating the incident.

According to Jet Airways, a major Indian airline based in Mumbai, the plane landed safely and passengers were escorted to the terminal.

The airline organized alternative flights for stranded passengers, while first aid was provided to people suffering from illnesses.

However, an angry passenger wrote on social networks: "The plane had to make an emergency landing. The cabin crew was not professional while the ground staff was inept. No reps or guides. "

Lalit Gupta, a senior Indian aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority, told a local newspaper that the crew had forgotten to turn a switch to keep the pressure in the cabin.

Jet Airways said in a statement that Thursday's flight had made a comeback "due to pressure loss in the cabin" and "regretted the inconvenience to its passengers".

The statement said: "The B737 aircraft, with 166 guests and five crew members, landed normally in Mumbai. All guests were safely landed and taken to the terminal.
